Headaches

Fix your own Headaches

Headaches afflict almost everyone at some time in their life. Many people have chronic headaches. The most common type of headache is the tension headache. The technique described in this video is very effective at relieving tension headaches. The eight consecutive acupuncture points that need to be probbed should be done so in the order described starting on the hands and ending at the base of the skull. If all of the headache is not taken away after those eight points are done then you can proceed to do the ashi points or circle the dragon points. You should do the circle the dragon points on both sides of the skull. You do not need an acupuncture tool to do this The blunt end of a pen or the end of a spoon will do just as well. It is the points that are important and they have to be tapped for 5 to 8 seconds each.

This technique is done for instant relief. If headaches are chronic then the trigger points at the base of the skull must be pressed on. And they should be pressed on daily for 5 to 8 seconds. Start at the lateral most trigger point that is painful at the base of the skull and work your way towards the midline. Do not wiggle the points.

Just press steadily for 5 to 8 seconds. If they are not tender move on to the next point. Do both sides of the skull. It may take a few weeks of daily pressure on these points before they are no longer tender. You should see a decrease in frequency and or intensity of the headaches. After the headaches are gone it would be a good idea to do some maintenance to prevent the recurrence of these trigger points.

It is often in the case that similar trigger points occur along the shoulders. These trigger points also starting from the shoulder and moving towards the spine should also be pressed on for 5 to 8 seconds each. Hot packs along these areas are also helpful. Sometimes the vertebrae need to be adjusted. For this see your chiropractor.
